Health Behaviour and Emotion Lab

Led by Dr. Catherine Sabiston, is a multidisciplinary research environment that focuses on psychosocial factors in physical activity and sport contexts. Our research foci include the influences of motivation, self-conscious emotions (pride, shame, guilt, envy and embarrassment), stress, affect, and social support on physical activity, youth and adolescent sport involvement, and emotional well-being.

Sport & Performance Psychology Lab

Led by Dr. Katherine Tamminen, focuses on understanding the psychological aspects of sport participation and performance. Primary areas of research are: Stress, coping, emotions, and emotion regulation in sport, Social and interpersonal processes of emotion, emotion regulation, and coping in sport. Athlete mental health and well-being, Youth athletes, parent and coach influences in youth sport.

ADAPT Lab

The ADAPT lab, led by Dr. Arbour-Nicitopoulos, focuses on the relationship between physical activity and physical, psychosocial and mental health outcomes in marginalized groups, with a particular focus on persons living with disabilities. 

Exercise Oncology Lab

Led by Dr. Linda Trinh, is dedicated exclusively on developing, assessing, and evaluating exercise studies in cancer survivors. It is a multi-purpose laboratory allowing the space to be transformed for a variety of intervention modalities (e.g., distance-based, supervised), as well as physical function and exercise testing.
